Invisalign
What is Invisalign?
Invisalign is the official name of the clear, nearly invisible, plastic braces designed to straighten crooked teeth.
Invisalign is a removable orthodontic treatment that shifts crooked teeth just like traditional braces, but with a new transparent look and comfortable feel.
Invisalign custom-made aligner trays are meant to be changed approximately every two weeks until the teeth have completely straightened.
Invisalign is an orthodontic treatment that applies mild pressure on the teeth to move them in a desired direction.
Why should I consider this orthodontic treatment?
If you have crooked teeth, you’ve likely considered visiting a dentist who specializes in the alignment of teeth to improve your smile. Not only are misaligned teeth harder to clean but they increase your risk of tooth decay and gum disease.
Orthodontic treatments such as Invisalign repair malocclusions (imperfect teeth positioning) by slowly aligning teeth in the proper direction.
What is Invisalign used to treat?
Invisalign aligners can be used to treat \ minor problems such as uneven or widely spaced teeth and serious issues like overcrowding, overbites, underbites and crossbites.
How does Invisalign work?
Invisalign braces straighten teeth by using a series of transparent, removable aligner trays that need to be changed approximately every two weeks following the start of your treatment.
Every set of aligners needs to be worn for a minimum of 20 hours per day to be effective. The total amount of time it takes to straighten your teeth depends on how crooked they are.
What are the benefits of using Invisalign?
Unlike traditional metal braces, Invisalign plastic aligners are nearly invisible, which may make you feel less self-conscious about having to wear braces — whether you’re a teenager or an adult.
Invisalign braces are more comfortable than metal braces and provide a more precise fit, resulting in a highly effective treatment.
Invisalign braces are also easily removable so you can floss and brush your teeth after every meal and before bed.
Who is Invisalign ideal for?
Adults, teens and kids with all of their permanent teeth are great candidates for Invisalign. Anyone with crooked teeth who wants to straighten them comfortably and discreetly should ask their dentist about Invisalign.
What does the Invisalign process look like?
- During your first dental visit, impressions will be made of your teeth in order to create the clear, plastic aligners.
- During each subsequent visit, your Invisalign trays will be fitted and replaced, straightening your teeth gradually over time.
How long does it take for Invisalign to work?
If you wear the Invisalign braces for approximately 20 to 22 hours per day, and have them switched every two weeks, Invisalign treatment usually takes between six and nine months. Variables that will determine the length of treatment include, how crooked your teeth are, how old you are, and if you’ve worn braces previously.
Does Invisalign hurt?
Invisalign works by applying gentle pressure on your teeth to adjust them slowly over time. It’s normal to feel your teeth and mouth shifting and adjusting during the process, but it shouldn’t be painful.
